Everything here at The Tea Rooms is handmade and home-made by Isabelle Allfrey and Bethaney Rose who between them have over 16 years’ experience as pastry chefs having worked for Claridge’s Hotel, private members clubs, Michelin-starred restaurants, cafes and private Royal households.
Our specialities are classic British cakes, sweets and luxury afternoon teas. We are committed to using only the finest, high-quality, traditional ingredients and wherever possible we buy local, free-range and Fairtrade.
The Tea Rooms is fully licensed so you can enjoy a glass of Prosecco with your afternoon tea if the fancy takes you. And we cater for private parties and functions whatever the occasion, either here or at a location of your choice. We believe in doing things with elegance and style so whether it’s a hen party, a wedding, a birthday party or any other special event, we can supply pretty, vintage cups and saucers, teapots, linen and cutlery to make sure you have a celebration to remember.
Who we are
Owner Isabelle Allfrey was born and raised in Hackney and trained at Westminster College as a professional chef in 1997. She went on to specialise in pastry and confectionery working at the RAC private members club in Pall Mall, No.1 Lombard Street and Royal households amongst other prestigious locations. It has always been her ambition to run a traditional Tea Rooms and bring the time-honoured ritual of tea making and drinking to modern lives. The Tea Rooms is a sanctuary, a place to celebrate old-school skills and crafts and take solace from the hectic lives we all lead.
Bethaney Rose, our glamorous pastry chef was born in Reading, and spent some of her childhood in Jamaica. She moved to London as a toddler and went to Stoke Newington School. She trained as a pastry chef at Westminster College gaining a professional patisserie scholarship diploma. Baking brings out Beth’s creativity and she finds it rewarding and expressive.
Our other fabulous tea room girls are all talented young people and have many outside interests and skills including photography – taking all our website pictures – art and textiles, theatre direction and fashion.
