We are still coming down from the high of our fantastic Jubilee street party! The British weather could not dampen our spirits and Church Street came alive with busy food stalls, music, games and laughter – a scene of pure, patriotic fun! The Tea Rooms girls relished dressing up 1950s’ style and serving our extra-special Jubilee afternoon tea, complete with delicious, traditional home-made fare.
The ‘Best Sponge in Stokey’ competition was a huge success and the judging so much fun. The children’s entries were of such a high standard that we couldn’t pick a winner – so there were prizes all round! And the only man to enter the competition carried off the adult prize so three cheers for him. Meanwhile, to have tap dancing from the fabulous, retro-style Sugarbeats while afternoon tea was served –well the atmosphere was just amazing. In fact looking back on it all, we positively wish we could have a Jubilee street party every year!
